Biographical Sketch: Dr. Purnendu Vasavada is a Professor Emeritus of Food Science, University of Wisconsin-River Falls and the Outreach program manager for the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA). Previously, Professor Vasavada served as a FDA-ORISE Fellow and the coordinator for the FSPCA. Dr. Vasavada is internationally recognized for his innovative teaching and training programs in food science and technology and rapid methods and automation in food microbiology. He is the author or co-author of over 100 publications including peer reviewed papers, technical abstracts and book chapters. Dr. Vasavada has received numerous awards and professional recognitions, including Fellow of the AAM, the IFT and the IAFP, the IAFP Educator award, the GMA Food Safety award and the Honorary Life member of the Hungarian Society for Microbiology.
