Biographical Sketch:
Katherine M.J. Swanson began as a microbiology consultant in 1977 prior to her Ph.D. studies in Food Science at the University of Minnesota. She was assistant professor of food microbiology at Cornell University, developed food microbiological test applications at 3M, solidified her food safety experience at The Pillsbury Company and General Mills, served as Ecolab’s vice president food safety and started her current consulting practice in 2013. Her influential roles include ICMSF’s Microorganisms in Foods 8 editorial committee chair, IAFP past president, Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance executive editor and past National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods member.
