Biographical Sketch:
Alejandro Amézquita has over 15 years of experience in food safety, gained working in industry and academia. He received his B.Sc. in food engineering from La Salle University (Colombia), and his M.Sc. (food science & technology) and Ph.D. (biological systems engineering) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (United States). Alejandro has published numerous research papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and has presented and lectured extensively on microbiological risk assessment, modern food safety management systems, and predictive microbiology. He is currently Chair of the Microbial Modelling and Risk Analysis Professional Development Group of IAFP. Alejandro holds adjunct faculty appointments at North Carolina State University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He currently works at the Safety & Environmental Assurance Centre of Unilever in England.
