Biographical Sketch: Michael Batz is head of food safety programs for the Emerging Pathogens Institute (EPI) at the University of Florida. He has been conducting quantitative policy analysis for over 15 years. His research focuses on risk ranking and prioritization, foodborne illness source attribution, foodborne disease burden, and decision making under uncertainty. Mr. Batz leads EPI involvement in the Florida Integrated Food Safety Center of Excellence, one of five such Centers nationally, is executive director of the Food Safety Research Consortium, and consults for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.N. Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) on foodborne illness attribution and risk prioritization.
