Biographical Sketch: Dr. Aline Metris has been working in the field of predictive microbiology for food safety at the Institute of Food research in the UK for fifteen years. She has been participating in many European projects as well as in the ComBase project. She has developed techniques to study foodborne pathogen kinetics at the single cell level in order to quantify variability in microbiological risk assessments. More recently she turned to systems biology in order to better understand how molecular interactions allow some cells to survive stresses imposed along the food chain.
