Biographical Sketch: Dr. Geert Houben is Principal Scientist with the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research TNO, The Netherlands. He also hold a research position as a Visiting Scientists at the University Medical Centre Utrecht (UMCU), The Netherlands. Prior to his appointment as TNO Principal Scientist in 2014, he has had various research and management positions at TNO since 1996 and various research positions at the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands, prior to 1996. Geert was trained as a Biologist and Toxicologist. His major scientific specializations are food allergy, food and feed toxicology and immunotoxicology, and particularly risk assessment in these areas. He has a strong international involvement in the development and application of probabilistic approaches in food allergy risk assessment and in the elaboration of reference doses and action levels for precautionary labelling of unintended allergen presence in food products.
