Biographical Sketch: Roberto Lattanzio works as Laboratory Manager at Eurofins Analytik GmbH in Hamburg which is part of the company’s food division. As a biologist Roberto’s professional focus lies on the detection of food allergens, animal species determination and irradiation testing. Establishing routine methods and procedures to analyze a broad spectrum of raw and finished products as well as environmental samples has been his main task after joining the laboratory in 2010. He came across the topic of allergies in the mid-nineties by testing patient sera for specific IgE and IgG. After receiving his diploma in biology from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), having studied molecular processes during embryonic development, he was excited to encounter the subject of allergens again in his subsequent career.
