Biographical Sketch: Coordinator of the Monitoring and Surveillance Unit of the Food and Nutrition Department (DAN) and also of the Portuguese Food Information Resource Programme PortFIR since 2008. Coordinated the Bromatology and Nutrition Laboratory since 2003, until June 2008. She got her degree on Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Lisbon in 1985, the Clinical Analysis Specialist degree and the Health Graduated Technician Specialist degree in 1991, and the Master’s degree in 2010. From 1985 to 2001 she worked in Clinical Analysis at private and public laboratories, particularly in microbiology. She started her career as Senior Scientist at the National Institute of Health in 1991 working on vitamins, food additives and contaminants analysis. Her main scientific areas of research are Food Chemical Analysis, Vitamin Analysis, Food Composition Data, Food Contaminants and Analytical Quality. She was National Focal Point for SCOOP task 3.2.3 (Assessment of dietary intake of nitrates by the population in the European Union, as a consequence of the consumption of vegetables). She has experience in Reference Materials Certification and in Methods Standardisation. Co-ordinated the 2006 edition of Tabela da Composição de Alimentos, INSA. She was responsible for the creation of the Portuguese network on food composition within PortFIR and is the Portuguese EuroFIR compiler since 2005 and a member of EFSA Expert Group on Chemical Occurrence and Working Group on Total Diet Studies and she also participated in the Technical Working Group on Data Collection. Her current main scientific areas of work are Food Composition and Contamination Data compilation and management, Data Quality, Total Quality Management, EFQM Excellence Model and Total Diet Studies.
