The Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) is a public- private partnership consisting of key industry, academia and government stakeholders established with funding of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to help the food industry, especially small and medium sized companies, to comply with the preventive controls regulations required by the Food Safety Modernization Act. Following the successful examples of the Seafood and Juice HACCP Alliances, the FSPCA is developing a standardized curriculum on preventive controls for hazards related to FDA-regulated foods for human and animal consumption. The FSPCA will provide training, including train-the-trainer, using the curriculum. It will also provide outreach to the industry, develop a hazards and preventive controls knowledge database, help communicate technical elements of preventive controls regulations, and provide a useful link between the food industry and the FDA regarding guidance for food hazard analysis and preventive controls.
