There is no question that the food supply has become increasingly dependent on a complex global supply chain significantly impacted by changes in population dynamics, climate, agricultural practices, and conflict. Each of these factors impact food safety risks and risk management is complicated by a constantly changing marketplace influenced by consumer demand and innovations in food processing. Fortunately, technological advances have also lead to incremental improvements in foodborne outbreak detection and management. All stakeholders in the global food supply chain share the responsibility to effectively and collaboratively manage food safety.
